Describe the movement of bird Lapay/Seagull.

Seagull, lapay is a popular sight in coastal areas. Lapays seems to be waiting to greet the fishermen when they arrive with their catch. Lola Felisa Tupas of Bantigue town in Masbate was so captivated by the elegant gestures of the Lapays that she and the fisherman choreographed a dance that imitated the movements of the birds. The dance was a result of the fluid flapping of the wings of the birds, their elegant swoop to kiss the sparkling waves and their playful frolicking of the coastline. Their lapay dance seemed an enticing portrait of the plain yet peaceful way of life of the community.

The first was "lupad" where the arms fluttered in a graceful way, like flapping wings. Then the "tuka" which is a pecking motion with a bent back going forward and backward. Next is the "kumintang" which involves spinning hands and wrists while turning and twirling. Other steps involved going horizontally, forwards and backwards, stomping, jumping and gliding. It's quick to memorize the sequence of dance moves. They appeared to dance as free as a bird – flapping wings, flying forward, backward and sideways, bending, stomping, gliding, spinning, twirling and turning. When you learned the dance, you will be very happy and excited.
